All nature is doing her best each moment to make us well—she exists for no other end. Do not resist her. With the least inclination to be well we should not be sick.—
Henry David Thoreau, Journal, 23 August 1853
In January, 2020, we received an excited phone call from our dear friends Fred and Wilma. They were working an RV show in Tampa, FL, and we were in our eighth month of full-time RVing, with Mister scheduled to retire that March. “Guess what we just signed you up for??!!” Coming from Wilma, we knew there was absolutely no way we could guess, and we were unsure whether to feel anticipation or fear. “Okay, I guess I should ask…how do you feel about workcamping in Yellowstone starting May 2021? I already signed you up, but you can always say ‘no.’ You’d be working and camping with us and [another couple]! Doesn’t that sound fun??!!”
Long story short, Mister and I agreed…I mean, why not? What an incredible opportunity! So, here we are in Yellowstone with a five month commitment to work in their gift shops, selling souvenirs and scooping ice cream. Our days off will undoubtedly be spent exploring the park and surrounding area, photographing nature in all its glory, and doing our best to wander largely unnoticed.
In this section of the blog, I will post my experiences in and photos of Yellowstone. Feel free to email me with any questions or comments you may have. Above all, enjoy.
